Peoria Festival of Lights: The Celebrations to Experience the Magic

Every winter, as the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, one event in Central Illinois brightens the season with dazzling brilliance—the Peoria Festival of Lights. The centerpiece of the festival is the FOLEPI’s Winter Wonderland, a stunning 2-mile drive-through light display that features over a million lights.  

The Peoria Festival of Lights typically kicks off in late November and runs through New Year’s Eve.

Locations:

  • Winter Wonderland: VFW Park, East Peoria
  • Parade Route: Starts near the intersection of Washington Street and Dolans Lane, East Peoria

Hours:

  • Winter Wonderland is usually open nightly from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with extended hours on weekends.

The drive-through display is the crown jewel of the Festival of Lights. It features:

  • The world’s tallest Christmas tree made entirely of LED lights
  • A 30-foot animated nutcracker
  • Tunnel of lights that surrounds your vehicle in vibrant color
  • Nativity scenes, gingerbread houses, toy trains, and flying reindeer
  • A FOLEPI Express train, Santa’s workshop, and holiday music playing over your car radio

This event is one of the only nighttime light parades in the region, and it’s nothing short of magical.
